Map:
1:100,000-Scale Geological Survey Topographic Map of Wendover, Utah-Nevada
Directions:
Take exit 407/Ola from I80 and go south to the stop sign. Go right on the paved road for .3 miles to a dirt road on the left. The Ola site is 3 miles south on this dirt road. There is a loan tree by the railroad tracks that can be seen from the paved road.
Turn onto to the dirt road and stay straight, (crossing at least 1 crossroad), for 2.7 miles. At this point, the road branches left and right along the tracks. Continue to the left for .3 miles to the loan tree. There are a few old foundations in the area.
When heading back, be sure to stay right at .3 miles from the tree to leave the tracks and head back to the paved road.
Access:
There is a relatively easy dirt road all the way, so a 2WD vehicle should be OK in good weather. You will go through 3 washes along the dirt road and may have some difficulty if pulling a camper or trailer.
Comments:
Use caution along the tracks since they are active.
