PLACES TO SEARCH

The following is a list of places you may be able to search.  Click on the links for a description and directions.

CAUTION: Since changing weather conditions can have a dramatic effect on poorly maintained roads, the comments offered on this site about access must be taken only as suggestions. It is your responsibility to be prepared for emergencies. You must use your own judgment, knowing your vehicles capabilities and the current weather conditions before venturing off of the main road. Also, you should always have the appropriate maps to use along with the directions offered on this site.

RULES OF THE HUNT:

Get Permission - Always try to get permission or access to an area before hunting. A general rule: If the area looks claimed or private, then it probably is. Areas such as State Trust Land and Patented Properties are off limits to metal detecting. Obtain a land surface map to find out the status of the land in which you intend to hunt. Local BLM offices usually have them in stock. Honesty is the best policy!! Tell the owner your intentions and you may get permission to hunt freely.

Fill In Your Holes And Take Out Your Trash - Over the years the BLM, Forest Service and other Government agencies have gotten much stricter on rules and regulations. Leaving trash and open holes when hunting only gives them more firepower to use against us. Remember, refill your holes, it only takes a few seconds at best!
