I worked for a contruction company from 1950 to 1999, where I was involved in building 52 pump houses and 27 concrete water storage tanks from 50,000 to 4,000,000 gallons.
In 1974 a friend at work introduced me to metal detecting. I couldn't believe all of the coins and artifacts he found and I was hooked on my very first time out. I got my first detector from a lapidary shop in Layton. It was a brand new Fisher Explorer. I still have that machine and it still finds coins, but it is a far cry from the White MXT that I use now. I have found enough valuable items in the last 5 years to pay for at least six MXT's!
What a great hobby this is and what great solitude it provides. And, what a great way to resurrect the past. Since my purchase of the MXT in 2001, I have found the following:
2002 - gold class rings, 21 silver rings and over $300 in coins
2003 - 4 gold rings, 26 silver rings and over $400 in coins
2004 - $1700 gold ring, 22 silver rings, over $400 in coins
2005 - 4 trade tokens, 2 gold rings, 26 silver rings, $450 in coins
2006 - 2 trade tokens, 3 dog tags, 18 silver rings, 148 railroad badges, $450 in coins
2007 - 3 trade tokens value $1200, 2 gold rings, 17 silver rings, $300 in coins
